Knowing the amazement in students face teacher called that boy to her and appreciated him, “well done” teacher said. No one understood why she is doing this to him only with an innocent face a student asked, “Teacher is this the waste?”

That day the teacher entered the class with a special kind of smile. She told them to pile up the wastes that are to collect whatever that is not useful. Everybody rushed and started to collect the waste materials from inside and outside except for one boy. He took a piece of paper and started to write something on it. Everyone came back to the class with bundles of waste materials in their hands. Each one of them makes sure that what she/he had collected was the real waste that the teacher intended. But the boy who was writing on the paper didn’t mind these at all. He was still writing.

Everyone including the teacher was waiting for him to finish. The teacher said” ok, let me see the waste that each one of you had picked up. That boy stopped writing and pay attention to the teacher’s words. There were crumbled papers, plastics bottles useless pens and pencils and so on. But the teacher said, “Dear students, these are recyclable means we can convert into reusable materials. So these are not a waste.”  All the other students turned their eyes to that boy, who didn’t collect any useless thing to see what the teacher is doing to him. He handed the piece of paper over to the teacher. The teacher took that piece of paper and read loudly what was written on it. It was full of bad words, the usual students use among them to call each other when they get angry.

Everyone looked at him and was surprised why he had written like this. Knowing the amazement in students face teacher called that boy to her and appreciated him, “well done” teacher said. No one understood why she is doing this to him only with an innocent face a student asked, “Teacher is this the waste?” “Yes, this is”, the teacher continued “my dear children, do you know what waste meant for? It’s the one which is not usable. But, everything that you brought is reusable, that means they’re the raw materials to make a new product.”  Everyone looked at the waste holding in their hands. “And, what he had written is a real waste, these words do not have any use in one’s life. It hurts others. So, children, the words hurt others’ feelings are the real waste.” Everybody looked at their friend with a thankful face. The light of these words of the teacher reflected on their faces from their minds.
